Old Skool Skate Squad has two main services: Old Skool Skate Squad Fashion Clothing Label & Worldwide Skate Directory
Old Skool Skate Squad is an online international skaters project developed by James Buchanan in 2021.
James lives in Melbourne, Australia and has had rollerskating in his blood and part of his life for the last 36 years since he was 11 years old and growing up in the 80’s. After starting at Campbellfield Skate Rink in the northern suburbs of Melbourne which soon closed down, he made the West Heidelberg Skating Rink his new skate home until it closed it’s doors forever in 1991. Years later – James took over an online facebook group and with many hours work and research quickly grew it to over 1,100+ people to re-unite many of the people who used to regularly skate at the old West Heidelberg Skating Rink in the 70’s and 80’s.
So successful was the group in recruiting people to join, that he organised several West Heidelberg Skating Rink reunions in the years to follow. Each West Heidelberg Skating Rink reunion had a big turnout of old skool skaters of all walks of life coming along on reunion night with a lifetime of memories from their rollerskating days back in the 70’s and 80’s. Many of the people who attended the West Heidelberg Skate Reunions laced up some rental skates on the night to get back to rollerskating for the first time in more than 25+ years and were reunited with long lost skate buddies from their childhood.
Nowadays, there is still a core group of around 20-30 old skool skaters from the West Heidelberg Skating Rink who still to this very day catch up regularly for a rollerskate at various different skating rinks around Melbourne, Australia and a social pizza session afterwards. Most of them are in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s age group.
James and his girl regularly pack their rollerskates in their luggage when travelling on holidays in an effort to visit as many skating rinks as they can and meet as many skaters in the skate community as possible, no matter where they are travelling to.
James in his life away from rollerskating works as a lifelong self employed freelance commercial and advertising photographer. He also runs a small boutique business providing website development, domains and hosting, email newsletters, online PPC advertising campaigns and social media marketing. All of these skills have been combined and used while putting together Old Skool Skate Squad as his passion project.

This is a truly international hub of listings for everything do to with skating in all areas of the world that covers Europe, North and South America, Africa, UK, Asia, Oceania and the Middle East. Basic listings in the Worldwide Skate Directory are free – AND WILL ALWAYS BE FREE. Always!
